BACKGROUND: Madison Chock and Greg Zuerlein formed their partnership in 2006 and train in Canton, Michigan, with coaches Igor Shpilband and Marina Zoueva. After winning the 2007 Pacific Coast Sectional Championships, the team went on to finish fifth at the U.S. Championships at the novice level.
After a successful junior debut at the 2007 Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships, they were assigned to their first Junior Grand Prix event - Tallinn Cup - where they won the gold medal. They followed their win in Estonia with a bronze medal at their second assignment in Germany. Few teams have qualified for the Final in their first season on the circuit, but Madison and Greg just that and finished fifth at the Junior Grand Prix Final in Gdansk, Poland. They finished their first season as juniors with a bronze medal at the U.S. National Championships and were second alternates for the World Junior Championships.
For the 2008-2009 season, Madison and Greg won both of their Junior Grand Prix events (Merano, Italy and Sheffield, Great Britain) and qualified for the JGP Final with the maximum of 30 points. After winning the JGP Final in December, the team won the U.S. junior title and became World Junior Champions in February 2009.
Madison and Greg made their senior debut at the 2009 Cup of China Grand Prix event where they placed eighth. Two weeks later, they improved on that placement by finished sixth at Skate America. |
